I'll Never Stop Downloading Illegally

Although I know downloading music is wrong and I could get in trouble for it I would never stop doing it. What am I suppose to do go out and buy every CD that comes out to see if I like the songs on it? No way! I don't have the time or money to do that. I guess I could go on itunes but they never have all the songs that I want and I don't want to pay 2 dollars when I know I can get it for free. One of my cousins has gotten sued by Kazaa for downloading music illegally and they had to pay money to the company. I was shocked when I found out and I thought about stopping my illegal downloading but instead I just went to a different website to download from. I guess I won't learn my lesson until I get sued (knock on wood). Morally I don't think I am doing anything wrong, I am supporting the artists by listening to their music and if they make a really good CD then I will go buy it. I think that some day they will make downloading music off the computer legal and then we won't have to worry about getting sued for it, but until then I will keep braking the law and hope that I won't get caught!

Hey Lauren, I completely agree! People are not going to stop downloading illegaly- it is just so convenient...and better than that, FREE! College kids really dont buy cds anymore and nobody wants to spend their money on Itunes. Music is fun, it lets us express ourselves, so why would anyone want to pay for it when using programs like Limewire or Kazaa is just so much easier than actually driving out to Newbury Comics & buying a CD..or having to deal with annoying credit card stuff online.

In my opinion buying CDs is a waste ot time nowadays because of the choices that we have! I like to go on itunes and listen to the albums first n then download the songs that i like..there's no point in buying a cd when am only interested in couple of songs..Why pay for those couple of songs when i can get it for free??

I'm going to try out RUCKUS (the free campus service that Kyle Dooley spoke about) in my COMM 399 class--I'm curious to see how the interface works, and how my students & I react to the program....There is indeed a lot of stuff there, but for instance they didn't have Herbie Hancock's album HEAD HUNTERS, which believe it or not was a real disappointment to me. So we shall see how the experiment goes....
