Internet Addiction, a Real Thing!!!!

So I was doing my usual looking online for media news that I can use to write a blog and I came across something very interesting. There is an actual disease called DSM-V, which is an addiction to the Internet. I couldn't believe this!! I mean I know people that are always checking their facebook and myspace and that never get off aim but really? An actual addiction?? The research for Internet addiction first started in South Korea after several cardiopulmonary-related deaths in Internet cafes and after a game related murder. They consider Internet addiction one of its most serious health problems. Can you actually believe this because I cant!?!?!? This is not only a real disease, it is a serious problem in some places. So all you gamers and myspaceaholics beware because you might have a serious problem on your hands! This is the link to see the actual article...http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/165/3/306

Tricking the Paparazzi

There is this new show called Pop Fiction on E! that is all about tricking the paparazzi. I watched it for the first time the other day and I thought it was a great idea. The paparazzi create rumors all the time and now it is the celebrity's turn to play with them. The one episode that I saw had Eva Longoria and Mario Lopes trying to make the paparazzi think they have something going on between them. They went shopping and then out to lunch. To really give the paps something to talk about Mario gave Eva a necklace and then put it around her neck. Just a few hours later these pictures and footage was all over the Internet. The paps are a very big influence on media. The fact that they could take a picture and then a few hours later have everyone thinking that Eva and Mario are having an affair is incredible. This new innovative show is a great Way to show the influence that the paparazzi have on media. The above picture is one from the show when Eva gets the necklace that I found on the Internet at a gossip sight.

A Long Time Question Answered.

Something I have always wondered is why CDs and DVD's always come out on a Tuesday. At first I didn't catch on and never really thought about it as I'm sure a lot of people haven't. I do not think about this everyday and let it haunt me but I just always wonder why Tuesdays? Who came up with that day and why?? It did not occur to me until this moment to look it up and get this question answered for me once and for all. According to Yahoo! Answers.com the reason that CD's come out on Tuesday is because there was always a mid week slump for the entertainment industry so they wanted to pick things up. The reason DVDs come out on that date is for the same reason and also because they didn't want to mix DVD sales with box office sales. Although this answer is vague and didn't tell me who made up this rule, it was the most information I could find with google. It will put my mind at ease and I will no longer wonder why. So for everyone that has ever had the same question as me there is your short answer!

Computer Hackers can get into the Pentagon??

I am always worried about ordering things off the computer or typing in any of my information because of all the hacking incidents I hear about. In the back of my mind I think what are the odds of it happening to me but the truth is it is very possible it could. I recently heard about three Chinese guys that claimed to have hacked into the pentagon computer and downloaded information. Whether or not I believe them I don't know but I do know that they are able to hack into most computers as long as they know a little bit about the software. I was reading an article on CNN.com where they had an interview with these three hackers. The leader of the group is named Xiao Chen and he has two colleagues that he works with. One is a former computer operator, another is a marketing graduate and the Chen says he is self-taught. If they are telling the truth and have gotten into the Pentagon computers they have a lot of power. The government is worried that they will try to carry out "cyber warfare". The pentagon said that the computer networks in many countries including the U.S, Germany, Britain and France have had intrusions that originated in China. Who knows how many of these hackers are out there right now trying to get information that could do a lot of damage to our government. Not to mention Xiao Chen and his colleagues have a website of their own that gives directions and advice about how to get into computers, so that means we are all at risk!
